ABOUT CLOONANAHA NATIONAL SCHOOL

Welcome to the Cloonanaha National School Website. We are a two teacher co-educational and rural primary school under the patronage of the Catholic Bishop of Killaloe. Scoil Mhuire, Cloonanaha is a happy school where every child matters. We want children to really enjoy their school life, to develop a life-long love of learning and to leave us with a great sense of their own self-worth, ready for the next stage of their development in this ever-changing world. As part of our efforts to provide a well-rounded education, children participate in a variety of school based and community projects and activities. The school is particularly well known for the quality of its sporting, musical and creative activities.

Our Philosophy
osch-philosophy.jpg

Our philosophy of education is that all children are unique and must have a stimulating educational environment where they can grow physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. It is my desire to create this type of atmosphere where students can meet their full potential. I will provide a safe environment where students are invited to share their ideas and take risks.

Our History
OUR HISTORY.jpg

The original school in Cloonanaha was built in 1895. It was located between the Crawford’s and Cotter’s homesteads. Today, a stone marks the spot. Our present school building was built in 1940 and is located across from Cloonanaha Church on the Milltown road (r460). The word Cloonanaha comes form the Gaelic ‘Cluain an Atha’ which means Meadow of the Ford.
