Junior Infants

Enrolment Day for in coming Junior Infants will take place on March 6th 2019 at 1:30pm all are welcome

 

  • Parents/guardians must complete an application form (availed of by phoning, writing or emailing  the school) and forward same to the principal accompanied by a copy of the child’s birth cert and where the child was baptised outside the parish a baptismal cert (if applicable). Prospective pupils and their parents will be invited to an open morning in the last term prior to commencement in the autumn term.

  • Application for admission will be considered in accordance with Department of Education and Science and Irish National Teachers Organisation guidelines on class size and regulations laid down in the Education Act.

  • Pupils must be 4 years of age before September 1st of year of admission.

 

Pupils transferring from other schools

  • Parents/guardians must complete an application form (availed of by phoning or writing to the school) and forward same to the principal accompanied by a copy of the child’s birth cert and where the child was baptised outside the parish a baptismal cert (if applicable). Prospective pupils and their parents will be invited to an open morning in the last term prior to commencement in the autumn term.

  • It is encouraged that the new pupil, accompanied by a parent/guardian, might visit the school prior to enrolment to meet with the Principal and where possible, the class teacher.

  • Parents/guardians of new pupils are informed that it is policy to discuss the transfer with the Principal of the school in question. Transfers from other schools should be accompanied by such educational records as deemed appropriate by the Principal of the other school together with details of attendance records.

 

Enrolment of Children with Special Educational Needs

  • Parents/guardians of a child with special educational needs must supply all relevant reports on that child in a timely manner.

  • The school will co-operate with the parents/guardians and all relevant agencies to ensure that all the necessary supports are in place and provision made to cater for the child’s educational requirements.

  • It should be emphasised that it is to the child’s benefit that all relevant documentation in relation to that particular child’s needs be made available to the school at the earliest opportunity. Failure to do so may result in a delay in providing the appropriate supports for the child.

  • It will be at the school authority’s discretion to determine how to provide for a child’s needs until the appropriate supports are in place.
